An AI note taker without a bot works by recording on your own computer instead of joining the meeting. MetaWhisp records two tracks on your Mac: your microphone, which becomes Me, and the sound your Mac plays, which carries everyone else and becomes Them. Because nothing is added to the call, it works with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, FaceTime, Webex, GoTo Meeting, Slack huddles and Discord, and with any other call your Mac plays. When you press Stop, the recording is transcribed, on your Mac on the Free plan with no limit, or with your own OpenAI or Groq key, and saved as a transcript of Me and Them lines. With AI set up, a recap with decisions and action items follows for meetings longer than a minute. macOS asks for Microphone and Screen Recording access, the permission that lets an app hear its own sound.
